A coffee starter set that only sells as a whole.
You sell an espresso machine for €449. Whoever buys it needs beans and a cleaning kit as well — and buys both somewhere else. So you put together a starter set: all three items, ten percent off, one click. This page shows how that is set up and what the customer sees.
Three articles, one price advantage, no choices.
| Component | Role | Qty | Unit price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Espresso machine | Main product | 1 | €449.00 |
| Espresso beans, 1 kg | Component | 1 | €24.90 |
| Cleaning kit | Component | 1 | €19.90 |
Three tabs on the product you already have.
You open the espresso machine in the administration and switch to the Bundles tab. No separate product is needed for the set.
Add beans and cleaning kit
Search both articles, set the quantity to 1 for each component and define the order. You do not add the machine itself — as the main product it is always part of the set.
Percentage discount, 10
The header keeps the maths visible: €493.80 minus 10 % comes to €444.42. A percentage fits here because it follows the goods value and moves along when prices change.
Selection: full bundle
That locks every component in place. You also pick the display position — next to the buy box for a quick add-on, or in the description when the set needs explaining.
After saving, the set is live in the shop. If you want the same starter set on several machines, create it once under Catalogues → Bundles instead and assign it to all of them.
What the customer sees on the product page.
The three components stand underneath one another with quantity and unit price, the price advantage above them. There are no checkboxes — that is the difference to the selectable bundle.
- The struck-through price shows what the three articles would cost bought separately.
- One click puts everything in the cart, itemised with its own discount line.
- Several sets on the same product appear underneath one another, each with its own advantage.
No checkboxes, no choices. Whoever wants the set takes it whole.
What is a fixed bundle?
A package whose contents are set. The customer sees every component with its quantity and unit price, but cannot deselect anything. They buy the set the way you put it together, or not at all. In the administration this is the value "Full bundle" on the Options tab.
When is a fixed bundle the right choice?
Whenever the combination itself is the offer. A starter set only makes sense if everything needed to get going is in it. The moment customers may take parts out, it stops being a starter set and becomes a recommendation. For that case there is the selectable bundle.
Do I have to create a separate product for the set?
No. The package is created on the main product, in our example on the espresso machine. There is no extra article in the catalogue, no duplicate maintenance and no stock that drifts apart. Anyone opening the machine sees the set, and the components stay ordinary products.
How many fixed bundles can one product have?
As many as you like. The same machine can carry a starter set, a savings pack and a gift set, each with its own components, its own discount and its own display position. Customers see them underneath one another and pick.
What happens when a component sells out?
You decide that in the configuration, and there are three ways: the whole package is hidden, only the affected article drops out of the package, or it stays in despite missing stock and gets oversold. For a fixed bundle, hiding is usually the honest choice, because a starter set without beans is not a starter set.
Can a customer order several sets at once?
Yes. There is no quantity field for the package on the product page, but in the cart it can be counted up like any other line item. All components scale with it, and stock is checked per article.
How does such an order arrive in the warehouse system?
As a flat list: machine, beans and cleaning kit each stand as their own line item with their real product numbers, plus one line for the discount. There is no collective item hiding the contents.
