Glossary

The words used in this manual and in the administration, each explained in one sentence.

Bundle

A composition of existing catalogue products attached to one product and shown on that product's page. A bundle is not a product of its own and creates no additional article in the catalogue.

Parent product

The product a bundle is attached to and on whose page it appears. It is always part of the package, always sits in first position with a quantity of one and cannot be deselected.

Component

A product inside a bundle, with a fixed quantity and a fixed position. The quantity is set by the merchant; the customer cannot change it.

Complete bundle

A bundle type in which every component is fixed. The customer buys the package as it was put together, or not at all.

Selectable bundle

A bundle type in which the customer deselects individual components with a checkbox. The price recalculates immediately. The parent product always stays in.

Product-specific bundle

A bundle maintained in the Bundles tab directly on a product. It has the full feature set: three discount types, discounts per rule, a visibility rule and a freely chosen display position.

General bundle

A bundle created once under Catalogues, Bundles and assigned to several products. It only supports a percentage discount and always appears in the product description.

Percentage discount

A discount type: a percentage off the sum of all components. The reduction is distributed proportionally across the tax rates of the components and adapts automatically when components are deselected.

Absolute discount

A discount type: a fixed amount that reduces the total price. On a selectable bundle it stays at its full value even when components are deselected.

Fixed package price

A discount type: a price that replaces the sum of the individual prices, no matter what the components cost on their own.

Bundle container

The cart line that groups the components together. It carries the sum of its children, is not a stocked article and is removed from the order out of the box.

Discount line

A separate cart line with a negative amount that states the price advantage of the bundle. It always comes last among the components and can be stored as a Shopware voucher.

Display position

The place on the product page where a bundle appears: in the product description or at the buy box. The position is chosen per bundle, not per product.

Validity rule

A rule from the Shopware Rule Builder that decides whether a bundle appears at all. If it does not match when the page is opened, the bundle is not delivered.

Rule-based discount

An additional discount value tied to a rule from the Rule Builder. If several rules match, the one with the highest priority in Shopware wins.
