Sven gives tradespeople more off the same set and a package of their own.

Sven sells cordless tools to DIY customers and to trade businesses. In his shop the businesses are in the customer group "Dealers" and see net prices. Until now they got their terms through a voucher code and saw the same sets as everyone else. Now a single rule decides which discount a package has for dealers and which packages are shown to dealers only, without any voucher code.

The rule

One rule on the dealer customer group.

In the Rule Builder you create a rule with the condition "Customer group". It applies to every customer in the dealer group as soon as they are logged in, and you can use it again on as many bundles as you like.

Condition: "Customer group", "Is one of", "Dealers". If wholesalers or catering belong in it too, you select their groups in the same field.

Priority: if several rules with a discount of their own match one customer, say "Dealers" and "Regular customers", the rule with the higher priority applies.

The same package

One pro set, two discounts.

The pro set with two spare batteries and a charger hangs off the cordless drill. DIY customers get 10 percent, dealers get 20. The bundle exists only once for this, and the dealer discount is stored on the rule "Customer group dealers" as a value of its own.

1

The default

In the "Discount" tab the "Percentage discount" of 10 percent is set. It applies to everyone for whom no rule with a value of its own matches.

2

Choosing the rule

Under "Add discount for a rule" you select "Customer group dealers" and click "Add discount".

3

The dealer discount

The list below shows the rule with its own value, here 20 percent. Further rules, for bulk buyers for example, become further rows.

What the dealer sees

With net display they see every price without tax: instead of €366.39 they pay €293.11 for the set.

The net total is made of the net prices of the pieces: 167.23 € for the drill, 74.79 € for each battery and 49.58 € for the charger. A percentage discount works the same on gross and net.

Dealers only

A workshop package DIY customers never get to see.

A second bundle for businesses hangs off the same drill: four batteries and two chargers at a fixed price. With the rule in the "Validity" field it only comes into being for dealers, and nobody else sees it, not even greyed out.

1

Validity

In the "Options" tab you select the rule "Customer group dealers" under "Validity". The help text on the field puts it briefly: the bundle is only valid when the selected rule is true.

2

Fixed price, net

In the "Discount" tab "Fixed price" is set with €535.50 in "Price (gross)" and €450.00 in "Price (net)". A dealer with net display pays the €450.00.

At the dealer's end

They see the workshop package below the pro set: instead of €565.55 it costs €450.00, a saving of €115.55.

What applies

Badge and notice count the product, not the rule.

If the drill only had the workshop package, a DIY customer would see this page: no package, but the "Bundle available" notice below the add-to-cart button. Notice and "Bundle" badge in the product list go by whether a bundle is maintained on the product at all, not by the rule.

The notice then also appears for end customers. You switch it off with "Show reference to bundles" in the "Product detail page" card.

The same goes for the badge; for that there is "Show badge" in the "Listing" card. Both switches apply per sales channel to every product.

Rules for validity and discount exist on the bundles you create in the "Bundles" tab of the product. General bundles under Catalogues, Bundles apply to every customer with the same percentage discount; so a B2B bundle is created on the product.

Common questions

Can I show a bundle to dealers only?

Yes. In the "Options" tab you select a rule with the condition "Customer group" under "Validity". If it does not match, the bundle never comes into being for that customer; they see no package, not even a greyed-out one.

Do dealers get a different discount on the same bundle?

Yes. In the "Discount" tab you add a value of its own per rule under "Add discount for a rule". Everyone else gets the default value. You create the package only once for this.

Which price does a dealer with net prices see?

The net price. A percentage discount works on the net total of the pieces. With "Absolute rebate" and "Fixed price" the plugin takes the value from "Discount (net)" or "Price (net)" for customers with net display.

Which discount applies when two rules match?

The value of the rule with the higher priority in the Rule Builder, not the larger discount. If a dealer who is also a regular customer should get the dealer discount, the dealer rule gets the higher priority.

Do end customers notice that a dealer package exists?

Not the package itself. The "Bundle" badge in the product list and the "Bundle available" notice only depend on whether a bundle is maintained on the product. If a product only has dealer packages, you can switch both off in the configuration.

Does a dealer discount work with a fixed price too?

Yes. With "Absolute rebate" and "Fixed price" you also add a value of its own per rule, there as an amount with gross and net. The pro set can therefore have a fixed price of its own for dealers.

Does this work with general bundles too?

Rules for validity and discount exist on the bundles you create on the product. General bundles under Catalogues, Bundles apply to every customer with the same percentage discount.
