Jonas sells a table, four chairs and four cushions as one patio set.
Jonas sells garden furniture. In his catalogue the set of table, four chairs and four cushions sits in one photo; in the shop it used to be three products the customer had to gather in the right quantities. Sometimes three cushions arrived, sometimes a chair was missing. Now the set is one package on the table, with a fixed quantity per piece.
One table, four chairs, four cushions: the number is fixed.
The table is the product the bundle hangs off, and it counts once. You add chairs and cushions in the "Products" tab with a quantity of 4. The customer cannot change that number; they always get a complete set.
Quantity per component
The "Quantity" column shows 4x for both garden chair and seat cushion. The table is not in the list; as the product of the page it is always included once.
Cushions in every colour
You add the seat cushion as a parent product with all its variants. The customer picks the colour once, and all four cushions come in that colour.
One price for everything
In the "Discount" tab "Fixed price" is set to €899.00. The header shows €991.00 total and €92.00 discount next to it.
In the shop
On the table's page chairs and cushions carry the 4x marker; below, the customer picks the colour of the cushions.
What happens when only three chairs are left in stock?
The chairs are seasonal goods marked "Clearance sale": once gone, they are not restocked. For such products the plugin weighs the stock against the quantity in the package, on the product page and in the cart.
Product page: if there are fewer chairs than one set needs, "Behaviour when products are not available" hides the package out of the box ("Remove bundle"). "Remove product from bundle" would keep selling the set without chairs, "Oversell product" sells it complete anyway.
Cart: the quantity selector on the package only goes as far as there are chairs for whole sets. With ten chairs that is two.
Single chairs in the cart count too. If what is left no longer suffices, the cart lowers the number of sets and tells the customer.
| Chairs in stock | Single chairs in the cart | Sets possible |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 0 | none, the package is hidden |
| 6 | 0 | 1 |
| 10 | 0 | 2 |
| 10 | 3 | 1; two become one, with a note |
The stock is divided by four and rounded down. Without "Clearance sale" on the chair the plugin does not limit the number of sets, just as Shopware sells single chairs without clearance sale beyond the stock.
What the set costs and weighs.
Table, four chairs and four cushions in anthracite, at the fixed price of 899 euros.
| Piece | Quantity | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Garden table | 1 | 34.0 kg |
| Garden chair | 4 | 26.0 kg |
| Seat cushion | 4 | 3.6 kg |
| Set | 9 | 63.6 kg |
How the weight comes about and where dimensions and delivery time come from is explained under Shipping and weight. For furniture that means: enter the freight delivery time on the table, because it applies to the whole set.
Above a certain weight the freight carrier takes over.
Which shipping methods Shopware offers is decided by rules. For a set of 63.6 kilos you only offer freight, for single cushions the parcel service.
- "Total weight of all products" counts every component with its quantity. As the "Availability" rule of the freight shipping method, for example with "Is greater than / equal to" and 30 kg, it only appears for heavy carts; the parcel service gets the opposite rule.
- "Cart contains bundles" comes with the plugin itself. If furniture is all you sell as bundles, this condition is enough for freight.
- Line item rules such as "Item with weight" see the components as well. The plugin brings its own versions of these conditions so that a shipping method with such rules does not disappear as soon as a bundle is in the cart.
Common questions
Can I sell four chairs with a table as one furniture set?
Yes. On the table you create a bundle and add the chair with a quantity of 4, and the cushions likewise. The table counts once as the product of the page. You set the price as a fixed price, a percentage or an amount.
Can the customer take only three chairs?
Not within the package. You set the quantity per component; the product page has no field for it. With a selectable bundle the customer can take a whole component out, the cushions for example, but not single chairs.
What happens when only three chairs are left in stock?
If the chair is a clearance sale item, the plugin hides the set out of the box, because no complete one is possible any more. The setting "Behaviour when products are not available" can instead offer it without chairs or oversell it.
How many sets can a customer order?
With chairs on clearance sale, as many as the stock covers for whole sets: ten chairs divided by four makes two. Single chairs in the same cart are deducted. Without clearance sale the plugin sets no limit.
Can the customer choose the colour of the cushions?
Yes, if the seat cushion is in the bundle as a parent product with all its variants. They pick the colour once, and all four cushions come in that colour.
How do I ship the set by freight?
Through Shopware's shipping methods: freight gets an availability rule with "Total weight of all products", which counts every component with its quantity. Alternatively you use the condition "Cart contains bundles" from the plugin.
Can the set also appear on a chair's page?
Yes, as a bundle of its own on the chair: the table once, the same chair with a quantity of 3, cushions four times; the chair of the page counts as the fourth. A general bundle for table and chair at once does not fit, because "Automatically remove duplicate father product" takes the chairs out on the chair's page.
